‍Global leaders in maritime, energy, infrastructure and floating production solutions strengthen commitment to floating desalination with the appointment of BW Water founder to lead BW Elara

1 July 2026, SINGAPORE – BW Group and BW Offshore today announced the appointment of Matthew  White as the CEO of BW Elara. A 50/50 joint venture between BW Group and BW Offshore, BW Elara combines deep maritime and offshore expertise with water engineering capabilities to provide clean  water through floating desalination units (FDUs). 

White will lead BW Elara's mission to bring floating desalination solutions to regions facing water  scarcity. He joins BW Elara after serving as CEO and Executive Chairman of BW Water over the past six  years, where he led the company’s transformation from a start-up into a leading global provider of  water, wastewater and desalination solutions. 

"Matthew’s leadership was instrumental in BW Water’s accelerated international growth in the past six  years. His entrepreneurial mindset, technical expertise, and experience in the water sector makes him  exceptionally well-placed to lead BW Elara," said Andreas Sohmen-Pao, Chairman of BW Group and  director of BW Elara.

White’s appointment follows the successful completion of BW Renewables' sale of BW Water Pte. Ltd.  to Industrie De Nora S.p.A., announced on 26 May 2026 and completed on 1 July 2026. BW Water has  become part of De Nora's global water business, while BW Group continues its commitment to the  water sector through BW Elara's focus on water security.
