BW Elara

BWO, together with BW Group, have established a new 50/50 joint venture entity, BW Elara, to develop and operate Floating Desalination Units (FDUs): a fast, flexible response to growing global freshwater challenges.

BW Elara is the result of two years of joint development efforts and reflects BW Offshore’s strategy to apply our offshore engineering expertise in new ways. The development leverages our offshore production expertise with BW Group and their affiliated company BW Water’s proven reverse osmosis desalination system.
The FDU offers a modular, rapidly deployable solution capable of producing up to 40 million liters of drinking water per day. The concept bridges the gap between immediate freshwater needs and long-term infrastructure solutions for drought-affected areas and mid-size industrial or municipal users.

The creation of BW Elara exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and innovation. By applying offshore engineering expertise to global water challenges, we advance our strategic goal of creating floating transition solutions that deliver long-term value for stakeholders.

Governance structure

BW Offshore has a well-developed corporate governance structure, and adheres to the Norwegian Corporate Governance Board (NUES) Code of Practice, last updated on 14 October 2021.
