The BW Offshore Internship Programmes

At BW Offshore, our internship programmes are designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experiences that prepare students for  future careers in the energy industry. We aim to build awareness of the opportunities available within our organization and assess potential talent for long-term development.

What can you expect as an Intern with us?Our internships are now localized, with tailored programmes in Oslo and Singapore, each offering unique exposure to our business:

  • Oslo (8-week Summer Internship)
Interns are placed within the Concept Development department, where they will contribute to early-phase engineering and innovation. During the programme, they may also be gain exposure to Asset Operations and support our New Ventures, offering a broad view of BW Offshore’s strategic initiatives.
  • Singapore (4-6 months Industrial Attachment)
Interns are primarily attached to the Projects department, working on FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and ongoing project execution. This longer-term attachment allows for deeper involvement in project lifecycles and collaboration across teams.

Throughout the internship, students work on real projects and tasks, gaining insight into our operations, culture, and values. We use this time to understand their capabilities, motivation, and adaptability.

Our goal is to offer interns a strong foundation for a career with BW Offshore, with the potential for future employment opportunities upon graduation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the recruitment process?

The recruitment for our Summer Internship Programme is a coordinated process, normally conducted in October or November the year before the actual internship. Advertisements are posted on the BW Offshore website, and all applications must be submitted via the formal channels.

When does the Summer Internship start and finish?

The Global Summer Internship runs from mid- to end-June until August or September, depending on which requirements the students have at their universities.

What are the possible locations I could be placed in during a Summer Internship?

Summer Interns are typically hired locally in their home country (provided the Company has an office there). However, we aim to make the Summer Internship a global programme, so you can expect to spend time in at least two different locations during the summer.

What does a normal day look like?

80% of your day will be spent with your team, who are engaging full time employees working on real projects. You will be given tasks to support them, and have real deliverables to project management.

20% of your day should be spent on a Common Task with other Summer Interns. This enables you to set up a project of your own, and really dig into the challenges and opportunities this leads to.

What kind of mentoring and supervision can I expect during the internship?

Each Summer Intern will get a buddy and a mentor to support on both discipline/department specific questions, as well as ensuring you are integrated with the team, and that you meet the right people during your internship.

Normally each intern will have a mentor and buddy in each location they spend time over the summer.

What happens when I have completed the programme?

Our main goal for the Summer Internship is to offer the right people jobs as Graduates upon completion of their degrees. After the internship has ended, you will have a follow up conversation with us, and discuss your motivation to return as a Graduate, as well as how you can see your career as a Graduate with the Company.
