Accelerating Action for Gender Equality – International Women’s Day 2025
At BW Offshore, we believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) are essential to driving our success. As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, we are proud to reaffirm our commitment to gender equality by revamping our DE&I Statement and highlighting the steps we are taking to accelerate progress.
Stronger policies for a more inclusive workplace
Inclusive policies are key to ensuring that everyone at BW Offshore has equal opportunities to thrive. As part of our commitment, we are launching a revamped DE&I Statement that reinforces our dedication to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace. Additionally, our ongoing efforts to clarify career progression and pathways through a structured job grading system will promote fairness in development opportunities and, as a result, help reduce pay gaps across all employee groups.
Empowering women in STEM and offshore careers
The offshore industry has historically been male-dominated, and BW Offshore is taking concrete steps to bridge the gender gap. Through partnerships with organisations such as POWERS and United Women Singapore (UWS), we actively support women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) by:
- Providing mentorship opportunities through the STEMentorship programme.
- Offering observatory internships for female high school students to experience real-world engineering roles.
- Hosting career development events that connect students with industry professionals.
By investing in education and skills development, we are building a pipeline of future female leaders in offshore and technical roles.
Increasing women’s representation in leadership
We are committed to creating pathways for women in leadership. BW Offshore has made progress, with women now representing 33% of our C-suite—above the industry average. Recent leadership promotions, including Mona Rajoo to Chief Commercial Officer and Ming Yen Yip to General Counsel, are steps toward a more diverse and balanced executive team.
To further strengthen gender diversity at all levels, we shall:
- Promote gender targets for leadership roles.
- Support women’s leadership development through training and mentoring.
- Encourage women to step into decision-making roles both internally and in the industry.
A workplace free from bias and barriers
We recognise that unconscious bias and unequal treatment can impact employee morale, retention, and performance. That’s why we have:
- Implemented mandatory DE&I e-learning, completed by 80% of our onshore workforce.
- Established Working Environment Committees and Offshore Safety Committees to provide forums for addressing workforce concerns.
- Launched development programs to build awareness of unconscious bias and foster inclusive behaviours throughout the organization. These initiatives provide valuable opportunities for growth and aim to enrich our culture, making it more inclusive and welcoming for every employee.
